    The 50 Pound Sack

Big Sacks of UglyWood at Discount Prices

At the southern end of the Rocky Mountains lies an area known for its mystical enchantment, scenic views and the most aromatic aromas on the planet.

UglyWood started with the beautiful smell of pinon, a run to the store and grab a bag here and there and everywhere. After around ten thousand bags the light bulb kicked on and the search was on. Hopped in the truck and ran up old Route 66 until we hit paydirt. First it was a truck load, then came the trailers. Next thing we knew people wanted to buy this aromatic wood. But this is no ordinary wood, this was the UglyWood. The wood that no one wanted! It did not quite fit the perfect description of what you buy at your local chain store. So let’s get down to it, UglyWood is bought at a discounted bulk rate and we are here to pass those savings on to you!

Our wood comes from truly sustainable forestry operations, and by buying this wood you are helping to support tribal, village, and remote rural jobs in America.

Our goal is to create jobs for tribes, villages and groups of people who already live and work in the woods by creating viable markets which will sustain our mutual efforts to bring value to what is often the lowest grade of wood, but which can be effectively used in new and clever ways by combining Design and Technology.

These people are often masters in the woods, and it benefits both of us to work together. They know the mountains and the deserts that they live in, and they have a reverence for wood and natural resources that is wonderful and unparalleled. Special woods like Piñon can bring value to desert land restoration and aquifer regeneration efforts, while at the same time providing much needed jobs to rural areas and beautiful products to our clients.

Your purchase of our firewood may well be the job that keeps that person working in their rural home area. Piñon pine in particular has great social and economic potential. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
